Memorial Hospice of Seminole provides in-home hospice care to those in our community who have been diagnosed in the last stages of a terminal illness. Although the word "hospice" is used in general to cover this special service, not all hospice agencies are the same. Memorial Hospice of Seminole is dedicated to exceeding your expectations when it comes to hospice care.
What is Hospice?
Hospice is a very special kind of care provided to those nearing the end of life. At Memorial Hospice, care is provided by a team of individuals who meet regularly with the hospice medical director to ensure that the patient is receiving the quality care they deserve. In addition to patient care, our hospice staff works with the patient’s family to help them transition through this difficult time.
What is special about Memorial Hospice of Seminole?
Our hospice team is what makes us special. Our nurses, aides, social worker, chaplains, volunteers, and office staff are committed to giving the time necessary to the patient and/or family. As a person nears the end of life, many issues can arise. Medical, social and spiritual issues are each addressed by various members of the Memorial Hospice team. Our team members are happy to lend their expertise.
What can I expect from Memorial Hospice?
Our first goal is to address any palliation (comfort) issues of the patient. Our nursing staff makes sure the patient is as pain-free as possible, yet able to stay functional and interactive with their family for as long as possible. Our nurses maintain an open line of communication with the patient and family to explain the disease process and what the family can do to help comfort the patient.
Anger, depression, and frustraion are all an emotional part of the end-of-life process for both the patient and the family. Our social worker is dedicated to helping the patient and family work through the emotions that often arise during this time. Our chaplains also address emotional and spiritual issues as they occur.
Whether it’s through the care that we give, the emotional and spiritual support we provide, our volunteers or our follow-up bereavement program, we strive to make every day count for both the patient and their family.
